Title: Lead Teacher

Summary
CCNS (Community Co-op Nature School) is seeking individuals passionate about preschoolers. At CCNS we believe children learn best through exploring the world around them. Together, we are dedicated to fostering happy, socially engaged, independent thinking children through a teacher and parent supported community.
The Lead Teacher position oversees and implements curriculum, supervises co-op parents, and leads class for the assigned on-site and/or outdoor classes. This role is a part-time, seasonal position that runs the school year (Aug-May) with potential summer camp employment opportunities.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Supervise class of 12-14 students (15+ if co-teaching)
Lead class in activities and through the daily schedule
Guide co-op parents in assisting the class
Plan class curriculum based on class interests and with a nature focus
Hold parent teacher conferences twice during the school year
Communicate regularly with parents and respond to parent concerns
Participate in weekly staff meetings
Support students experiencing difficulties
Experience, Competencies and Education
Required:
Associate’s degree and two years related teaching or experiential education experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Ability to implement and model excellent risk management practices
Experience or training in early childhood education
Excellent communication skills
First Aid and CPR certification or willingness to obtain certification before beginning employment
Valid driver's license
Willingness to undergo and pass a background check
Preferred:
CDA credential or degree in Early Childhood Education
Experience developing environmental science curriculum

The Assistant Director acts as director when the director is not on-site. This role is a part-time position that runs the school year (Aug-May) and summer with summer camps running June through August.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
● Supervise the daily operations of school
● Keep classrooms and environment within safety and licensing standards
● Answer phone calls and emails
● Assist with reports and documentation
● Guide students to the bathroom and assist with toileting and diapering
● Respond to parent concerns
● Participate in weekly staff meetings
● Support students experiencing difficulties
● Collaborate on other projects as assigned by the director
Experience, Competencies and Education
Required:
● Bachelor's degree and/or commensurate experience
● Ability to implement and model risk management practices
● Excellent communication skills
● First Aid and CPR certification or willingness to obtain certification before
beginning employment
