Adventures Around Salt Lake City: The City Library

Looking for an inexpensive and fun place to take your kid in the afternoon? Did you know the Salt Lake City Public Library offers free afternoon snacks for kids?

We often go for a walk to the library with our daughter. The building and grounds are beautiful, and we love the sound of the clock on city hall chiming every quarter hour. While there, she picks out a new collection of books – hopefully sparing her already overstuffed room from more book purchases. We particularly like to head over around 3pm (when she’s fresh off a nap). In addition to some new reading board books, she picks up a free snack bag filled with goodies to enjoy on the walk home. Typical bags include things like milk, sunflower seeds, apple sauce, juice, tortillas, salsa, and other healthy but tasty goodies.

It’s called Kids Café, and it’s available to all kids and teens at the Main Library, the Marmalade Branch, and the Glendale Branch on the following days: Main Library & Marmalade Branch , Mo-Th 3-8pm; Fri 3-5pm; Sat 10am-5pm, and Glendale Branch, Mo-Fri, 3-4pm.

See you there!
