President’s Message

Happy Fall!

I hope that your family has enjoyed the first month of school at CCNS. Though our focus is on the kids, with co-oping, committees, and community activities, sending your child to CCNS really means that your whole family is attending!

Personally, this is the start of my family’s seventh and final year at this amazing preschool, and my fourth as president of the board. So I’m excited—but also a bit teary—about the busy school year ahead.

First, I’m thrilled to have Cathleen Wilkes here as our new Director. This spring she made the shift from CCNS parent and board member to our Director, and her experience, energy, and enthusiasm are already propelling the school forward.

The fall is a busy but really fun time at CCNS, so get ready for several happenings this month…

On Saturday, October 14th we’re holding our annual Fall Harvest Dinner and Auction, and this year our theme is Oktoberfest! It should be a great night with delicious food, a diverse array of auction items, and a nice chance for uninterrupted adult conversation with CCNS friends old and new. The Fall Harvest committee is hard at work planning a special night, and I hope to see you there. You can find more details about the event, and ticket info here. Stay tuned for more details about the menu, on-site childcare options, and more. As always, the event will raise money for our classroom supplies.

Also this month, CCNS parent and professional photographer Amber Schiavone will be taking our class and individual student photos. And we are so happy to have her snapping our photos this year! Read more about the dates, photo pricing and options here.

And last but not least, be sure to join us for our annual Trunk or Treat on Friday, October 27th. Decorate your car, stock it with treats, and come to the CCNS parking lot where the kids will trick-or-treat from car to car. We’ll have pizza and water available, so bring a few bucks to toss in the honor system jar. And new this year, we’re including a costume contest! Judging from past events, there will be some pretty spectacular costumes there, so come prepared! This is always a safe, fun family event and we hope to see you there.
