A Typical Day

2B - The first day of school

For all ages, the average day begins with circle time where the kids share stories and sing songs. This is followed by a period of free play where choices range among art and learning projects, sand and water tables, games or playing with toys.

After hand washing, the children have a snack. They set their own place, pour their own juice, pass the food to each other, discuss seasonal topics, and clean up their own mess.

They spend time each day outside on the playground riding trikes, digging, running, playing on the child-size basketball court, swinging and sliding. The saying at CCNS is, “If it’s not snowing sideways, we are going outside.” Children are encouraged to experience the seasons and asked to bring appropriate gear for the weather of the day.
